The Real Healing Path—How Spirit, Mind, and Body Work Together (And Why Gluten-Free Eating Matters)

By Edward Lee Neal (Hawk)

Founder of Sunflour Academy of Gluten Free Fusion

I write a lot about the body—how it responds to food, how to ease inflammation, how to bake better without gluten. But today I want to zoom out… and talk about the bigger picture.

For many of us, especially those with chronic conditions, fatigue, or anxiety, healing hasn’t just been about changing what’s on our plate. It’s been about changing everything—how we think, how we feel, and how we connect to something bigger.

Here’s an idea that has shaped both my healing and my teachings:

Psychology is how the mind reacts to spirituality.

Physiology is how the body reacts to the mind.

It’s simple—but it explains so much.

1. Spirit Shapes the Mind

When I’m spiritually connected—through prayer, stillness, or even numerological alignment—I feel more clarity and confidence in my thinking. That connection becomes the compass for my decisions, emotions, and mental state. When I drift from that connection, my thoughts grow chaotic, reactive, or dark.

In my Patreon article “Rediscovering the Power Within: Unveiling the Lost Potential of the Mind,” I explored how the spiritual dimension not only influences, but activates our cognitive and emotional functions. We are not just thinking machines—we are spiritual instruments receiving signal and meaning from something greater.

2. The Mind Shapes the Body

Thoughts become emotions. Emotions become chemistry. Our mindset, stress level, and subconscious patterns all shape the body’s health. Anxiety can disrupt digestion. Fear can raise blood pressure. Chronic stress can lead to autoimmune issues.

In my writing, I often discuss how trauma embeds itself in the nervous system and how healing can begin through spiritual awareness, emotional regulation, and high-frequency lifestyle choices. I’ve shared this in numerous channeled outlooks and posts—like the Energetic Outlook for September 4, 2024 (also on my Patreon site), where I spoke about how the numerological vibration of the day directly impacts our biology and sense of purpose.

3. The Body Responds—and Speaks Back

What we consume, how we move, and how we treat our body feeds right back into the mind and spirit. When we eat foods that cause inflammation, brain fog, or hormonal imbalance, it becomes harder to think clearly and stay spiritually connected.

In “Gluten, Ultra-Processed Foods, and the Systemic Global Health Crisis” I unpacked how modern wheat and UPFs (ultra-processed foods) are not only disrupting physical health, but also the consciousness of our society. That article draws from peer-reviewed studies and my personal experience to show that we are quite literally what we digest—spiritually and mentally as well.

4. Gluten-Free Eating as Spiritual Support

For me, gluten was a major source of interference. Not only did it cause bloating, fatigue, and body pain—it made it harder to pray, to think clearly, and to access my higher guidance. Once I went gluten-free, the fog began to lift. The pain started to fade. My ability to connect spiritually deepened dramatically.

This isn’t just anecdotal—it’s part of my calling. On the “Meet the Founder” page of SunflourGF.com, I describe how my early struggles with gluten intolerance led to the formation of what is now a full-blown lifestyle and ministry rooted in healing, intuition, and nutritional clarity.

Have you ever noticed a change in your emotional or spiritual energy after removing gluten from your diet?

  • Yes—major improvements

  • A little, but not dramatic

  • Not really

  • I haven’t tried going gluten-free

I also discuss this in my article “Gut Health: The New Frontier in Alzheimer’s Prevention,” where I explore the science behind how gluten and poor gut health can directly impair cognition, and how restoring the gut supports higher mental function—and, by extension, spiritual clarity.

5. One Simple Shift

So if you’ve been feeling off—mentally, physically, or emotionally—consider starting at the top. Feed your spirit. Let that shift your thoughts. Then support your body with food and practices that bring peace, not confusion.

For me, that meant saying goodbye to gluten—not as a punishment, but as an act of devotion. To Spirit. To clarity. To my own well-being.

You don’t have to change everything overnight. Start with one intentional breath. One mindful meal. One conscious choice. The body will follow.

With gratitude,

—Edward
